Owner and founder of The EQ Element, Sara Munroe, witnessed firsthand the challenges learners faced with emotional intelligence, self-awareness, resiliency, flexibility, and other essential skills throughout their academic pursuits.
She observed that those who excelled were not solely determined by their grades, but rather by their ability to navigate ambiguity, persevere in the face of challenges, and embrace a growth mindset.
After 20 years in the education sector, she is now on a mission to share her knowledge and skills to empower students to become the champions of tomorrow.

Social-Emotional Learning outcomes were added to the Ontario school curriculum in the 2019-2020 school year as part of the Health and Physical Education (HPE) curriculum.

With curriculum spanning the K-12 sector, as well as curated workshops for students, teachers, principals, and parents, Captains & Poets put together the best, and most innovative approaches to helping youth connect to themselves and others.
The result are learners who are more resilient, know their unique gifts and perspectives, and have an understanding of the complexities of what makes them human. In the process they build friendships, identify, and a sense of purpose -- all while having fun getting to know their own Captain and Poet!
